Meeting Minutes

Open networking begins at 7:15am and meetings begin promptly at 7:30 am.

Meeting was called to order by Tim Volpone and all the following discussions and actions were taken:

Meeting minutes from 6/27/2019 there were no changes brought forth

WELCOME VISITOR(S): No Visitors

MISSION STATEMENT:

  • Read by Brenda Cobb (a different member will be selected to read the mission statement every week) – “To exchange and promote business with members and support member businesses through information sharing. To support secondary business education in Ashtabula County encouraging and sustaining entrepreneurship.”

SUCCESS STORY: Don Pikovik Painesville Publishing

OLD BUSINESS:

  • Reminder: If Ashtabula City Schools or A-Tech Schools are closed or delayed

  • Tim V proposed Susan R as Sec/Treasurer there was a second by Mike F motion was passed.

NEW BUSINESS:

Congratulations to Mike Fedler on becoming a new Grandfather

News of the passing of our former member Steve Featherston. We will send a monetary donation to his wife. Kathy Shafer will let us know the details of his service.

Lakeside H.S. Back to School Bash was introduced as a possible event to make a donation by John Steele, Kathy Shafer gave us more information

A motion was made by John S second by Kathy S, motion passed, donation not to exceed $300.00

VP REPORT:

  • Attendance reports for 6/27 and today will be sent out.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

  • Current balance - $15,531.21 per Elena B. Elena will get paperwork together so Susan can have access to the bank records.

  • Tim and Scott will take care of the Post office box. Susan will not have the key.

Membership/Marketing: CHAIR- Don P.

PER THE CHAMBER WE CANNOT HOLD THE EVENT AT LUISA’S UNLESS SHE JOINS THE CHAMBER. IF SHE DOES NOT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO SCRAMBLE TO FIND ANOTHER VENUE. DON IS GOING TO CONTACT HER AND SEE IF THAT IS AN OPTION

TIM PROPOSED THAT WE USE MEET ON MAIN AS A POSSIBLE NETWORKING EVENT.

TEN MINUTE PRESENTATION

INFINITY RESOURCES: WE USED THE PRESENTATION AS A MINI WORKSHOP TO DISCUSS IDEAS ABOUT GETTING MORE OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION TO STAY IN ASHTABULA OR RETURN AFTER COLLEGE TO WORK.

SOME IDEAS:

  1. THINK ABOUT PUTTING MORE INFORMATION OUT ABOUT THE VALUE OF OUR COUNTY TO OTHER COUNTIES TO ENTICE PEOPLE TO WANT TO WORK OR LIVE HERE.

  2. ENGAGE WITH THE YOUNG PEOPLE (STUDENTS,ECT) AND INSTILL THE VALUE OF HAVING A MENTOR HERE IN THIS COUNTY TO WORK WITH AND FIND OUT THE BENEFITS OF STAYING IN THE COUNTY.

  3. EMPHASIZE THE NEW BUSINESS THAT IS POTENTIALLY GOING TO BE HERE IN THE NEXT 5-10 YEARS.

  4. SKILLED WORKERS ARE NEEDED. PROMOTE WORKSHOPS WITH PARENTS TO EXPLAIN THE NEED FOR A SKILLED WORKFORCE.
